Terms of Service

For project: EtherVault

Last Updated: June 15, 2026

Welcome to EtherVault ("we", "our", or "the App"). By downloading, accessing, or using EtherVault, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

EtherVault is a cross-platform, local-first password management tool designed with a zero-knowledge architecture. It allows you to securely store, manage, and optionally synchronize your sensitive credentials (such as passwords, secure notes, and tags) across your devices.

2. Zero-Knowledge Architecture & Your Responsibilities

2.1 Master Password

EtherVault is built on a zero-knowledge security model. Your Master Password is never sent to our servers, nor do we have any way to access, retrieve, or reset it. You are solely responsible for remembering your Master Password. If you lose or forget your Master Password, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else. We are not liable for any data loss resulting from a forgotten Master Password.

2.2 Data Security

All your data is encrypted locally on your device using AES-256 encryption. While we employ industry-standard security measures, you are responsible for maintaining the physical and logical security of your own devices (e.g., using device passcodes, enabling biometric authentication, and protecting against malware).

3. Cloud Synchronization

EtherVault offers optional cloud synchronization using your personal third-party cloud storage providers (such as Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive).

  • We do not host your synchronized data.
  • By enabling this feature, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policies of your chosen cloud storage provider.
  • All data is encrypted locally before being uploaded to your cloud provider.

4. Premium Subscriptions & Purchases

EtherVault may offer optional Premium features through In-App Purchases or third-party payment processors (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe, or Lemon Squeezy).

  • Anonymous Binding: EtherVault does not require a centralized user account. Premium subscriptions are tied to your device's anonymous ID and your respective app store account (Apple ID or Google Account).
  • Restoring Purchases: You can migrate your Premium status to new devices using the "Restore Purchases" feature, provided you are logged into the same app store account used for the original purchase.
  • Refunds: Refund policies are governed by the respective app store or payment processor where the purchase was made.

5. Privacy

Your privacy is fundamentally important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle (and explicitly do not collect) your data.

6. Open Source & License

The source code for EtherVault is licensed under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the code in accordance with the terms of the MIT License. However, these Terms of Service govern your use of the official EtherVault application distributed by us through app stores or our official website.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ETHERVAULT AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE APP; (B) ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF YOUR DEVICE OR YOUR ENCRYPTED DATA; (C) THE LOSS OF YOUR MASTER PASSWORD OR CORRUPTION OF YOUR VAULT.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.

8. Modifications to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document or via in-app notifications. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
